Xcode Cloud

See your Xcode Cloud workflows and recent build runs for a team, and start a workflow with one click.

The Xcode Cloud page lists every Xcode Cloud product on your team, with its workflows and their recent build runs. You can start any enabled workflow from here, without opening Xcode or App Store Connect.

What you need#

  • A connected team. See Add your first team.
  • Xcode Cloud already set up for at least one app. You create products and workflows in Xcode; Slipway doesn't create them.
  • An API key whose role can access Xcode Cloud.

Open the page#

In the apps sidebar, click Xcode Cloud. It's under Team, or under the team's group if you've connected several teams. If the team has no products, the page says No Xcode Cloud products for this team.

What you see#

Workflows are grouped by product, with the product name as the section header. Each workflow card shows:

  • The workflow's name.
  • A status chip for the latest run, such as Succeeded, Failed or Running.
  • Up to five recent runs, each with:
    • its run number, for example #42
    • PR build or Branch build
    • when it started, for example "2 hours ago"
    • how long it took in minutes, once finished
    • its result: green for success, red for failure, blue while it's still running

Start a build#

  1. Find the workflow you want.
  2. Click Start Build.

Slipway asks Xcode Cloud to start a new run of that workflow. A toast confirms that the build has started. Start Build is greyed out for workflows that are disabled in Xcode Cloud.

The page loads its data when you open it and doesn't update by itself. To see the new run and its progress, open the page again. You can also follow the run in Xcode or App Store Connect.

How it fits with releases#

If a workflow archives your app and sends it to TestFlight, the finished build appears on the Build tab like any other upload. You can then attach it to a version there. See Builds and TestFlight.

Tips#

  • Xcode Cloud compute hours reset every month. Starting builds from Slipway counts against the same allowance as starting them anywhere else.
  • If you'd rather not use Xcode Cloud, the Build tab can archive and upload from your own Mac with xcodebuild. See Builds.
