The Game Center page lists the achievements and leaderboards set up for an app. Open the app and click Game Center under Services in the left sidebar.
The page is read-only for now. Use it to check what's configured without opening App Store Connect. To create, edit or localize achievements and leaderboards, use App Store Connect.
What you see#
If there's nothing to show, either because Game Center is off or because it's on with no achievements or leaderboards yet, the page says "Game Center isn't enabled for this app." Otherwise there are two lists.
Achievements#
The header shows the count, for example Achievements · 12. Each row shows:
- the reference name (the internal name in App Store Connect)
- the vendor identifier your game code reports
- the points it's worth
- archived if it's been retired
Leaderboards#
The header shows the count, for example Leaderboards · 3. Each row shows:
- the reference name and vendor identifier
- the score sort order (Asc or Desc) and the submission type (for example Best Score or Most Recent Score)
Common checks#
- Before you ship: compare the vendor identifiers here against the ones in your game's code. A typo means scores or achievements never show up.
- Before you retire content: archived achievements are marked, so you can see which ones players can still earn.
- Points budget: add up the points column to see how much of Apple's achievement points limit you've used.
What you still do in App Store Connect#
| Task | Where |
|---|---|
| Turn on Game Center for the app | App Store Connect |
| Create, edit or archive achievements | App Store Connect |
| Create or edit leaderboards, including recurring leaderboards | App Store Connect |
| Localize achievement and leaderboard names and descriptions | App Store Connect |
| Add images | App Store Connect |
Game Center is entirely optional. Most apps can ignore this page. Changes made in App Store Connect go live when the app version that uses them is released.
Troubleshooting#
- "Couldn't load." The banner shows Apple's error. Check that your API key's role can read the app; see Create an App Store Connect API key.
- The lists are out of date. Data loads when you open the page. Switch to another page and back to reload it.
