Slipway's Settings window has four panes: General, Accounts, AI and Screenshots. Open it with Slipway ▸ Settings… or ⌘,. Changes apply as you make them; there's no Save button.
General#
Plan#
Shows Free, or your Pro plan (Pro · monthly, Pro · yearly or Pro · lifetime) with All features unlocked. On the Free plan, Upgrade to Pro… opens the plans. See Pricing and Pro.
Note — During the beta, choosing a plan unlocks Pro locally; no payment is taken.
Appearance#
Theme sets Slipway's look: System follows macOS, Light and Dark override it for Slipway only.
Windows#
Open apps in a new window controls what happens when you open an app from the apps list or the menu bar. Off (the default), the app opens in the main window. On, each app opens in its own window.
Whichever you choose, right-click any app for the other option, and ⌘⇧N opens the selected app in a new window. See The apps list and sidebar.
Notifications#
Notify on 1–2★ reviews sends a macOS notification when a new one- or two-star review arrives for any of your apps. It's on by default. Reviews are checked when the menu bar watcher refreshes, every 10 minutes while Slipway is running. See Menu bar and notifications.
Accounts#
Lists every connected App Store Connect team, with its app count, Key ID and Issuer ID.
- Add Account… connects another team with its own API key. See Add your first team.
- Remove… disconnects a team and deletes its key from the Keychain. You'll need the
.p8file to add it again.
One API key connects one team. Keys stay in the macOS Keychain on this Mac.
AI#
Choose the AI provider, enter its API key, and pick a model. The pane shows a Status line: Ready when AI features can run, otherwise what's missing.
| Field | Shown for |
|---|---|
| Provider | Always: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, xAI Grok, Ollama (local) or Custom (OpenAI-compatible) |
| API key | Every provider except Ollama |
| Base URL | Ollama and Custom |
| Model | Always: type a model ID, or pick from the list fetched from the provider |
Full details, including which features use AI and which need Pro, are in AI providers and models.
Screenshots#
Default locales#
A row of locale codes. The highlighted ones are pre-selected whenever you add locales to a listing, so you can add your usual markets in one click. Click a code to toggle it. The defaults are en-US, de-DE and ja.
The pane offers the 20 most common locales. When adding locales to an app you can pick from the full list. See Metadata.
Template#
Default layout is the layout new screens start with in the screenshot studio. The choices are:
| Layout | Arrangement |
|---|---|
| Text Top (default) | Headline above a centred device |
| Text Bottom | Device above, headline below |
| Angled | Left-aligned headline, tilted device on the right |
| Showcase | Headline on top, large device running off the bottom |
| Frameless | Headline on top, screenshot without a device frame |
| Minimal | Large headline, smaller device |
| Hero Angle | Headline on the left, large tilted device on the right |
| Spotlight | Headline on top, slightly enlarged device |
| Two Up | Two tilted devices side by side |
You can change any screen's layout in the studio afterwards. See Screenshot studio.
Where settings are stored#
Settings live in the user defaults for app.slipway.mac. API keys and the AI key are in the macOS Keychain. Nothing is synced to a server. See Privacy and security.
