Keyboard shortcuts & menus

Every keyboard shortcut, menu command and right-click action in Slipway.

Slipway keeps its menus short. This page lists every shortcut and menu command the app adds, plus the right-click actions you might otherwise miss. Standard macOS shortcuts such as ⌘W (close window), ⌘H (hide) and ⌘Q (quit) work as usual.

Keyboard shortcuts#

Shortcut What it does
⌘, Opens Settings
⌘⇧N Open in New Window: opens the current app, or the app selected in the apps list, in its own window
Return Presses the highlighted button in a sheet, for example Add Account, Rename or Report on GitHub, or the next button during onboarding
Esc Cancels a sheet that has a Cancel or Not Now button, such as Add App Store Connect account, Rename Team or Slipway crashed last time

When you're renaming a custom product page, Return saves the new name and Esc cancels.

Slipway menu#

  • Check for Updates…: asks Sparkle to check for a new version. See Install and update.
  • Version x.y.z (build): shows the installed version and build number. You can't click it.
  • Settings… (⌘,): General, Accounts, AI and Screenshots. See Settings overview.

File menu#

  • New App…: goes back to the apps list and opens the New App sheet. It's available once you've connected a team. See The apps list and sidebar.
  • Open in New Window (⌘⇧N): available when an app is open, or when one is selected in the apps list.

Help menu#

  • Slipway Help: opens slipwaymac.com.
  • Report a Bug…: collects diagnostics, then opens a prefilled GitHub issue in your browser.
  • Copy Diagnostics: puts the same diagnostics report on your clipboard.

See Support for what the diagnostics contain.

Note — The menu bar panel shows a ⌘O hint next to its refresh button, but that shortcut isn't wired up yet. Use Open Slipway instead.
