This policy covers the Slipway Mac app and the slipwaymac.com website. Slipway doesn't need much of your data, so the policy is short.
The short version#
- The app has no accounts, no Slipway server, and no analytics or telemetry.
- Your App Store Connect key and AI key stay in your Mac's Keychain.
- The app only talks to Apple, to the AI provider you choose (if any), and to GitHub for updates and for bug reports you choose to file.
- The website stores only what you type into the waitlist form.
The Mac app#
What we collect#
Nothing. Slipway the app has no account system. It doesn't send usage data, analytics, crash reports or identifiers to us or to anyone else on our behalf.
What stays on your Mac#
- Your App Store Connect private key (
.p8) and your AI provider key are stored in the macOS Keychain on this Mac. - Your Issuer IDs, Key IDs, team names, preferences, tracked keywords and saved review insights are stored in the app's preferences.
- Your screenshot studio projects, the captures you add, rendered screenshots and cached app icons are stored in
~/Library/Application Support/Slipway/.
Who the app talks to#
| Recipient | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Apple (App Store Connect API) | Requests signed with your own API key, including the changes you make | To read and update your apps. This is what Slipway is for. |
Apple (public iTunes Search and Lookup, itunes.apple.com) |
Bundle IDs and search terms, without any key | App icons, seller name, keyword ranks and the store preview |
Apple (xcodebuild, altool) |
The builds you choose to upload | Build & Upload |
| Your AI provider, if you set one up (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI, your Ollama server, or a custom endpoint) | Text only: listing copy, screenshot captions and hints, review text, notes you write | Only when you use an AI feature or list available models |
| GitHub (Slipway's release feed) | A request for the update feed | Checking for updates with Sparkle |
| GitHub (Slipway's issue tracker) | Diagnostics and, if you choose, part of a crash log | Only when you choose Report a Bug… or Report on GitHub and then submit the issue in your browser |
Requests to your AI provider go straight from your Mac to the provider. The provider's own terms and privacy policy apply to that data, and your provider bills you directly.
Diagnostics include app and macOS versions, your Key IDs (never the keys), your AI provider's name (never the key), connection test results, whether Xcode is installed, and the last App Store Connect error. Crash logs are read on your Mac and only shared if you choose to. Device identifiers are removed before sharing. For the full technical details, see Privacy & security.
Purchases#
During the beta, Slipway Pro unlocks locally and no payment is taken. Before purchases go live, we'll update this policy to name the payment provider and what it receives.
The website#
Waitlist#
If you join the waitlist, we store:
- your email address;
- the answer to "Apps you ship", if you pick one;
- which form on the site you used.
This is stored in the site's database, hosted with Neon (Postgres). We use it only to email you about Slipway, such as the beta opening and launch news. We don't sell it or share it with anyone else.
To be removed, email support@handheldworks.com and we'll delete your entry.
Cookies and analytics#
The website sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics or advertising trackers. Like any web host, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP address and requested page, for security and operations.
Changes#
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
