Provisioning

Review certificates, provisioning profiles, devices and bundle IDs for a team, and register new test devices.

The Provisioning page shows your team's signing setup in one place: certificates, provisioning profiles, registered devices and bundle IDs. It flags anything that's about to expire. You can also register new devices from this page.

What you need#

  • A connected team. See Add your first team.
  • An API key whose role can access Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles. Apple decides what each role can see and change. If the key can't read this data, a Couldn’t load. banner shows Apple's error.

Open the page#

In the apps sidebar, click Provisioning. It's under Team, or under the team's group if you've connected several teams. Slipway loads all four lists at the same time. While they load, you'll see Loading from App Store Connect….

Certificates#

Certificates · N lists each certificate with its name and type, plus an expiry note:

  • expires in Nd in grey: more than 30 days left.
  • expires in Nd in orange: fewer than 30 days left.
  • expired in red: already expired.

Slipway only lists certificates. To create or revoke one, use Xcode or the Apple Developer website.

Profiles#

Profiles · N shows each provisioning profile's name, type and state, plus the same expiry note as certificates. If a profile is Invalid or expires within 30 days, a Regenerate in ASC link appears next to it. The link opens the Profiles list on developer.apple.com, where you can regenerate the profile. Slipway doesn't regenerate profiles itself.

Devices#

The header reads Devices · N of 100 per platform, which is a reminder of Apple's limit of 100 registered devices per platform. Each row shows the device name, model, UDID and status. The list shows up to 50 devices.

Register a device#

  1. In the Device name field, type a recognisable name, for example "Sam's iPhone 16".
  2. Paste the device's UDID into the UDID field.
  3. Click Register.

A Device registered toast confirms that it worked. Slipway registers new devices on the iOS platform. If Apple rejects the request, for example because of a malformed UDID or a used-up device limit, the toast shows Apple's error message.

Note — Apple resets registered device slots once per membership year. Removing a device mid-year doesn't free its slot right away.

Bundle IDs#

Bundle IDs · N lists each identifier with its platform. Below each one are the capabilities enabled for it, such as Push Notifications or iCloud.

To register a new bundle ID, use File ▸ New App…. Slipway registers the bundle ID as the first step of creating the app record. See The apps list and sidebar.

Tips#

  • The orange and red expiry notes are the quickest way to catch a distribution certificate or profile that's about to expire before it breaks a release build.
  • Build & Upload signs with the same API key and lets Xcode update provisioning automatically. In most cases you won't need to create profiles by hand.
